Craft & Sustainability

  • At Much & Dust, craftsmanship is central to everything we do. Each scarf is developed with close attention to composition, colour and finish — from the first sketch to the final fold of silk.

We work exclusively with natural silk, chosen for its softness, strength and the way it wears over time. Our scarves are produced in collaboration with an Italian heritage manufactory selected for its expertise, precision and responsible standards.

Every piece is designed to age beautifully and remain relevant beyond seasons.

  • Silk is at the heart of Much & Dust. As a natural fibre, it is breathable, gentle on the skin and temperature-regulating. When cared for well, it wears beautifully for years — which is why we treat it as a material worth time and intention.

All materials used in our products and packaging are chosen with longevity in mind, prioritising quality, durability and responsible sourcing.

  • We believe sustainability is a practice, not a promise. Rather than producing in excess, we focus on limited editions, thoughtful quantities and long-term value.

    Our approach includes:

    • Limited production runs

    • Natural, high-quality materials

    • Collaboration with responsible manufacturing partners

    • Minimal and recyclable packaging

By producing less and designing with intention, we aim to reduce waste and create pieces that truly last.

  • Much & Dust follows the principles of slow fashion. We work at our own pace, giving ideas time to develop fully and designs space to evolve naturally.

This slower approach supports better decisions — creative, material and ethical — resulting in pieces made to be worn often, kept, and passed on.

  • Silk is an extraordinary material — refined, durable and deeply rooted in tradition. At the same time, its origin invites reflection.

We are aware that creating silk involves living organisms, and that awareness shapes how we design and produce. Rather than ignoring this reality, we respond with respect — by valuing the material fully and using it with intention.

Some of our earliest references come from objects made decades ago: silk scarves and accessories created to last, not to be replaced. Pieces that stayed, were cared for, and passed on.

Today, many products are designed for speed and disposal. We choose a slower approach. By working with natural silk, producing in limited editions and designing for longevity, we aim to honour both the material and the life involved in its creation.

Silk deserves time — and so do the objects made from it.

A study of light, silence and presence.
